2019 General Assembly Delegate Application

The Illinois Emergency Nurses Association (Illinois ENA) invites all members to apply to be a delegate to the 2019 General Assembly. This year’s General Assembly will be held on Saturday, September 28 (7:45–11:45 am) and Sunday, September 29 (7:45–11:30 am; 1:00 –5:00 pm) in Austin, Texas.

The number of delegates per state is determined by ENA policies and membership numbers as of May 15, 2019. For 2018, Illinois ENA was allocated 24 delegates and 1 alternate delegate.

Applications are being accepted May 23 through June 15, 2019.

An online application process is used. Interested members should access the Members Only section of the website and click on the “Delegate Application Form” link on the left. For instructions on how to access the Members Only section, click on the link below. Complete and submit the application. After your application is submitted, you will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours.

Members Only Access Information

On June 15, 2019 the application process closes. All applications will be reviewed based on a point system assignment.  Those scoring the highest points will be considered to serve as a delegate. To ensure active involvement of new members in both the ENA and Illinois ENA organizations, the Illinois ENA President has the authority to include up to 20 percent first-time delegates. All delegates will be notified by July 6. 

Should circumstances arise where you are no longer able to fulfill your delegate duties, please notify immediately. 

Selected delegates receive up to $ 1,000.00 in reimbursement to offset expenses. Reimbursement (consistent with Illinois ENA Financial Policies) is available after the close of the General Assembly.


  1. Current ENA membership (must not expire prior to the completion of General Assembly)
  2. Current registered nurse licensure
  3. Submission of delegate application form by assigned deadline
  4. Must be able to travel to Austin, Tx and attend all General Assembly activities.
  5. If attending the Scientific Assembly of the Emergency Nursing 2019 conference, delegates are required to assist the staffing of the Illinois State Council booth in the exhibit hall. The schedule will be worked out on a first-come, first serve basis to take place in late summer.

The expectations and responsibilities of a delegate include but are not limited to:

  1. Attendance/teleconference participation at the summer Illinois ENA State Council meeting is mandatory:

Illinois ENA reviews the General Assembly processes including the proposed bylaw amendments and resolutions at this meeting. Delegates are expected to understand what they will be voting on at the General Assembly.

  1. Attends/completes the General Assembly orientation session. To be eligible for the State Council Achievement Award, we must have 100% compliance with the delegate orientation program.

  1. Assures an alternate delegate is available to assume voting if delegate should need to leave the Assembly Hall during the session.
  1. Displays an ongoing commitment to Illinois ENA by participating in Illinois ENA activities.


  1. Assists in staffing the Illinois ENA booth during the Conference.
